Wayne Fuchs is currently a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at The Mount Sinai Hospital. He limits his private practice in New York City to diseases of the retina, with a special interest in PXE. He graduated from New York University Magna Cum Laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 1975. Dr. Fuchs earned his M.D. from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1979, when he was elected vice-president of the honors medical society.
After completing a medical internship at The University of Florida Affiliated Hospitals, he studied ophthalmology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. It was during his vitreo-retinal fellowship at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in 1983 that his interest in PXE was born. He currently serves on the Medical Advisory Boards of PXE International, NAPE and the National Association for the Visually Handicapped, and continues to be enthusiastically involved in teaching and clinical research.
