Wendy Mons

Mons International, Inc.

Wendy Mons has been a wonderful low vision resource in the Georgia area and beyond for many years, providing low vision exams, mobility training, rehabilitation in the home, selected low vision products, and free low vision workshops in her community. She held the position of low vision specialist and temporary Director of Low Vision Services for the Center for Visually Impaired in Atlanta for three and a half years (´83-´86). She worked overseas nine years in rehabilitation services for the blind and visually impaired, setting up low vision clinics in Israel and founding a Braille newspaper there. She opened and operated Mons Special Eyewear for four years (´88-´92). Together with Emory University's Department of Ophthalmology, she helped set up the Emory Low Vision Clinic (´91-´94). She founded and subsidizes the non-profit organization Visually Impaired Foundation of Georgia which coordinates existing services for the visually impaired in Georgia. She currently conducts 10 low vision clinics with optometrists and/or ophthalmologists in the Georgia area.

Wendy is founder and president of Mons International, Inc., a company dedicated since 1986 to providing products and services to visually impaired persons. She holds a Bachelors in Special Education for the Blind and Visually Impaired from the University of Texas.
