More Books for PXEers (March 2013)
A couple of years ago, PXEer Pat Manson, with the help of his friends and family, the internet and his memory, compiled a long list of books that they felt may help fight depression. These are books that lift the reader’s spirits by being funny or clever, by having a not-too-sappy happy ending or by inspiring the reader. Last June, Pat selected 7 books from that list for his eNewletter article “Books for PXEers.” In his new piece, the creatively titled “More Books for PXEers,” he returns to that list to review 10 books he finds inspiring: stories of people who had to overcome long odds to complete remarkable feats of engineering, to heal and return to good health, to escape poverty, the Nazis or starvation, to survive or to win.
